Moab Arches and Rock Art

Southern Utah Wanderings 2010 | Day 5
Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Wednesday…another day and another morning of waiting in the tent until the rain stopped. Luckily, once it stopped, the sky actually started to clear up and the sun came out as we were packing up camp. From camp we headed down the Colorado River to the trailhead for Corona Arch. This hike was on my to-do list for this year and I was planning on hiking it in November, but since we were here unexpectedly I figured it would be a good time to check it out. Our goals for this day would be to find some arches, petroglyphs and pictographs near Moab that we usually bypass on our way to other destinations.

Moab BogleyFest 2009 | Friday

Friday, November 6, 2009

On Friday, I got up early and made my way to Moab to meet up with some people from Bogley who would be canyoneering that weekend. I met up with them just before they headed out for their canyons for the day. Since I wasn’t ready to start canyoneering just yet, I found out where we would be meeting for dinner and then headed out with my Jeep to do some exploring.

Strike Ravine and Moab Rim

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

On Tuesday morning I went on the official NAXJA trail group on Strike Ravine which was lead by Alex. The group consisted of 20 XJ’s, and even though it was a larger group, we managed to make good time on the trail. This was my first time on Strike Ravine, and I’m glad I went with the group, because it would be a difficult trail to follow on my own. There are a number of roads and trails that intersect in this area, so I might need to head back another time and do some more exploring. I volunteered to tailgun this trail for Alex, so most of my pictures are from the back of the group.
