Wedge Overlook
Wedge Overlook (San Rafael Swell) The Wedge Overlook is a short side-trip off of Buckhorn Draw, and well worth the trip. It's an easy graded road that any passenger vehicle should be able to handle, and the view at the end of Utah's "Little Grand Canyon" is outstanding. This is

Buckhorn Wash (San Rafael Swell) Buckhorn Wash is a very easy graded road through the heart of the San Rafael Swell north of Interstate 70. In dry conditions, a passenger vehicle would have no issues navigating this road. This road is easy to access from I-70. While this road is

Colorado National Monument
Amanda and I spent part of our day today taking the tour of the Colorado National Monument. Even thought it was pretty windy and there were a lot of rain clouds overhead, we had a great time. We certainly didn't see everything, but since it's practically in our backyard, I'm
America the Beautiful Pass
Amanda and I are heading out to visit the Colorado National Monument tomorrow, and since we plan on visiting a number of National Parks (Arches, Canyonlands, etc.) now that we live much closer, we figured it would be a good idea to pick up an annual pass. So I headed
Finally got the Taurus out to the range!
That's right, I finally had a chance to get my Taurus 24/7 Pro out to the range here in Grand Junction. I put about 200 rounds through it without any problems. The accuracy was good and it felt very good in my hand. The trigger pull was very nice, too.
Exploring after work
It is so nice being able to get out and do some exploring after work for a few hours or so. The sky was overcast today, so the pictures didn't come out too well, but here's a few pics from today. With clearer skys, there should be some good views
Chicken Corners
Chicken Corners (Moab, Utah) Chicken Corners trail starts at Hurrah Pass and then gradually winds it's way down to the Colorado River which it follows for a while with some great views. Most of this trail is easy, but there are a few rocky spots that might require a high

Onion Creek
Onion Creek (Moab, Utah) Onion Creek is a very scenic ride that pretty much any 4x4 vehicle can handle. At the start of the trail there are a bunch of creek crossings. If it has recently rained, be careful because the crossings can get high. The trail often washes out
California Pass

Chillin’ in the backyard
It's really nice having a great view from our backyard, so here's a few more pictures from this evening. Colorado River & Grand Mesa Colorado River, City of GJ and Book Cliffs in the background
Top of the World
Top of the World (Moab, Utah) Top of the World is a very bumpy ride that offers a great view at about 7,000 feet elevation from the Waring Mesa of Fisher Valley, Onion Creek, and the La Sal Mountains. I ran this trail back in 2003, and don't recall it
Long Canyon
Long Canyon (Moab, Utah) Long Canyon is a nice easy drive for most 4x4 vehicles that offers great views of Long Canyon and the La Sal Mountains. This trail makes a good loop when combined with the Potash Road/Shafer Trail, and also works well as a shortcut back to Moab
Easter Jeep Safari 2008
Just got back for the last weekend of Easter Jeep Safari in Moab a little while ago, and had a great time with Amanda. I also must say that is is very nice to actually be able to go to Moab for just the weekend. 😉 We checked out some
Night pictures over GJ
Took some pictures from my backyard over the city at night.
Cable
Just a little note to let you all know I got cable and internet hooked back up at my new place today. So updates should be back to normal soon 🙂 Heading out to Moab this weekend to check out EJS and then starting my new job on Monday.
The new place
Some pics of the new place. Even though the duplex we are renting for now is much smaller than we are used to, it does have a great view 🙂 The front back view from the yard over the Colorado river from the back porch....can see over the river and
The drive to GJ
Made it to GJ yesterday morning, and got the truck unloaded. The drive was pretty uneventful.....just long. Even had dry roads over the passes on I-70. Our cats were very good on the drive here. They either stayed in the back seat or layed on the bench between us while
Made it!
Made it to Grand Junction this morning. Truck is unloaded and we are tired. Pictures to come later 🙂 Goodnight!
Goodbye Illinois
Well, Amanda and I will finally be leaving Illinois in about 20 minutes. Hoping to make it to Grand Junction on Wednesday sometime. I probably will not have internet access again until Friday (have an appointment with Bresnan Cable then), so if you need to get hold of me, feel
Loading the Truck
This morning my dad and I went to pick up the truck and trailer from Penske for the move. We spent a few hours loading the truck and got quite a bit done today. Just a few more things for Amanda and I to take care of tomorrow and we
Final resting spot…..for now
My dad helped my get my 1992 XJ over to their driveway this morning, where it will be staying for a while until I can get it out to Grand Junction later this year. Here's a few pictures.
Last day!
Just an update on the move. Packing is coming along nicely. Today is my last day at my current job! I'm pretty excited about moving, but I am not looking forward to the cost of diesel for two trucks on our way to Grand Junction. 🙂
Left behind
Since I will be moving to a place that does not have a garage next week, I am forced to leave my 1992 XJ behind for now. I am hoping to get it out to Colorado later in the year, but that all depends if I can find a place
2000 XJ Ready
Finally got my 2000 XJ back out of the garage today after a week stuck in there. I cut off the spring perches and and fixed my pinion angle, added slightly taller shackles, and took care of some other routine maintenance items. Now it's ready for the trip to Grand
Charles Wells’ new Moab Book (Released Feb 2008)
Just got my hands on his new Moab book yesterday, and I must say that I am very impressed with it. I have had the original version since I bought it for my first trip to Moab in 2003, and it has been a great asset while visiting Moab, however,
Gone to the Scrap Yard
Gotta lighten the load before I head out to Colorado, so I had to get rid of that 1988 Cherokee Pioneer that has been sitting in my driveway for over 2 years. I also threw a bunch of other parts and scrap metal inside to help clean out the garage,
Started packing
Just over two weeks until I am going to be moving, and I started packing a bit this weekend already. No way I am waiting until the last minute 😉
MOVING!!!!!
That's right! I am finally getting out of the Chicago area and Midwest. I have been working on moving to Western Colorado for a while, and finally managed to land a good job out there in Grand Junction. The last day at my current job is March 14th, and the
Back in the swing of things.
There's been a few issues with my 2000 that I have needed to take care of for a while. The biggest issue being my pinion angle being a little off. I spent some time in the garage today and was able to take care of that. Of course, while I
Modified AJ’s Rock Rails
Just a quick update from this weekend. I managed to get my rock rails back on the Jeep finally, after having to remove them for the stiffeners I installed back in December. I could have easily just welded them to the stiffeners, but I wanted them to remain removable. Here's
Lack of motivation….
You may have noticed the lack of pictures from my wheeling trips and working on my rigs this year so far. Well, to be honest, I have kinda not had the motivation to work on either of my Jeep's much this year so far, even though I need to do

Just got back from spending all day at Zach's shop with a small group of friends. We spent most of the day working on Doug's Jeep. Here's a few pictures from the day 🙂 Zach cutting off the tire carrier Brian and Eddie working on the new fenders Working on

New Phone & GPS (AT&T Tilt)
Ended up picking up a new phone since I got such a great deal on it. Grabbed the new AT&T Tilt. It's a little bigger that I am used to carrying around, but I think the features of this phone will be worth it. With the built in GPS and
One Year Anniversary
That's right! It has been exactly one year since I brought my 2000 XJ home for the first time. Here's the original post. It's amazing what I managed to get done to it in the last year, and the places I went with it. Hopefully this next year will be
