The ADVENTR Library

A question I am frequently asked is about what kind of resources I use to help plan my trips. Besides internet searches, Google Earth, maps and word of mouth, I also have a pretty good library of books that can be helpful. I have all kinds of books including hiking guides, travel guides, photography books, and books about rock art, geology and history. I even have a few works of fiction thrown in for good measure, although I prefer reading non-fiction titles. Below I have compiled a list of the books in my collection to not only give you an idea of the resources I use, but it’s also a good way for me to keep track of which books I already have! Many of the older guidebooks are out of print, but if you click on the link of each title it will take you to the Amazon page for each book so you can purchase a copy and help support this site. If you have a book that you think I might be interested in and would like to recommend to me, please leave me a message in the comments below.

Thank you very much for presenting this great list of references. I found a number that I have never heard of, and was able to find many of them for sale on Amazon.

You might like to add Sandstone Spine by David Roberts to your library. About first (?) hike along the length of Comb Ridge. Roberts has a tendency to grate on my nerves, but overall I liked the book.

It’s already in my library and on this list. It’s one of my favorites and I’ve read it a few times since it came out.
