Amanda and I both took off Friday from work for my birthday so that we could spend a long weekend at Fremont Indian State Park. On Friday morning we were up early and then headed west into Utah. On our way there, we made a quick stop to get a few photos of the Tree of Life petroglyph panel.

After finishing searching for rock art in Indian Creek Canyon, I continued on down the highway to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Since all of the 4×4 roads in the park were closed I figured that I would complete some of the easier and shorter hikes that I always pass by on my way elsewhere. I started out with the very short hike to the Roadside Ruin.

On Sunday I headed back to Moab to search out some rock art in Mill Creek Canyon. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to hike up canyon as far as I had hoped because the water was too high and it was pretty cold out, but I did manage to get to these boulders which are covered in petroglyphs.

Amanda had to work on Sunday, so I was on my own to find something to do. As I have been doing lately, I decided to head back to Moab in search of some more rock art. On my drive to Moab down the Colorado River Road, I was treated to an excellent sunrise. I just had to pull over and get a photo.

On Saturday morning I was headed to Moab in search of some more rock art, but on my way there I made a short detour into the Book Cliffs to find a few pictograph panels. Here’s a few photos from the Book Cliffs.
