Amanda and I headed down to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park for a day trip. This trip we only checked out the South Rim and headed down to the East Portal. We are planning on heading to the North Rim in the future sometime. Just some photos from the day…

What a great day! Amanda and I woke up early this morning and headed over to McDonald Creek for a little hiking. This is a nice easy hike that starts out near Castle Rocks and then heads down to the Colorado River.

On Saturday I was invited by a friend at work to take his raft down the Gunnison River from Escalante to Bridgeport. He’s planning a big trip on the Yampa in a few weeks and needed to get more practice on the water beforehand. This is a pretty easy section of river with a couple of Class II rapids along the way and is about 14 miles in length. With the spring runoff, the water was flowing pretty fast and we ended up completing the trip in about four hours. The water was also pretty cold, so we did our best to stay out of it, and succeeded.

I decided to take my bike out for a short ride on the Gunnison Bluffs trail that is only a few miles from home. Amanda and I hiked part of this trail last spring, so I knew it would be relative mild to test out my bike off-road.
