Easter Jeep Safari Weekend | Friday

Friday, April 10, 2009

I had it all this last weekend…sun, dust, rain, snow, sleet and hail. The weekend started out on Friday morning for me with a quick trip to the vendor show at the Old Spanish Trail Arena. From there I gassed up and headed south of Moab, away from the EJS crowds. My destination on this dry and sunny day was to explore some of the trails in the Cameo Cliffs North area.

Canyon Rims Overlooks

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Our original plan was to head to Moab for a day trip on Saturday, but because of the wet and cold weather, we pushed it back until Sunday. We got an early start and headed south of town past La Sal Junction and took a right onto Looking Glass Road. There was still plenty of snow on the ground from the storm the previous day, so many of the roads we traveled were slick and muddy in spots.

‘Gotta get out’ Moab Weekend

Saturday & Sunday, March 28-29, 2009

After finally getting my Jeep trail ready again (new head gasket, oil pan, rear main seal, oil filter o-rings, front wheel bearing, driver’s seat, windshield and a fresh coat of paint on the front bumper) and realizing I had not gone out exploring in my Jeep for two months, it was time for me to get out again. What better place to go than Moab?

I decided to stick to the Island Area northwest of Moab for this trip. Bright and early Saturday morning Amanda and I hit the road and made out way to the Horsethief campground just off of Highway 313. After setting up camp we made our way over to the Dellenbaugh Tunnel. The last time I was at this tunnel was in 2007, however I was short on time that trip and didn’t get to explore too much.

After finding two geocaches near the tunnel we turned around and headed back and stopped to check out and photograph this water-carved wash nearby.

Delicate Arch

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Having been to Arches National Park a number of times, it was strange that we had never made it over to the most famous arch located there; Delicate Arch. We set out this morning to make the hike to Delicate Arch. Here’s a few photos from our hike.
