Yesterday morning Amanda and I headed to the Colorado National Monument to hike the full Liberty Cap Trail. I have hiked it from the bottom before, which is a shorter, but steeper hike. This time I wanted to start from Rim Rock Drive and hike across Monument Mesa to Liberty Cap, and then finish off the trail to the bottom. The full trail was about 7 miles in length and took us about 4 hours to complete. Here’s a couple of pictures I took along the way.

Bright and early Friday morning I decided to check out another canyon in the Colorado National Monument. This time I would be hiking from the top of Ute Canyon at the Rim Rock Drive trailhead all the way down to the bottom. The total hike was about 6 miles. Here’s a few photos I took along the way.

Since I wasn’t planning on going anywhere with the Jeep today, I decided to get up early and head over to the Kokopelli bike trails near Loma to check out a popular trail named Rustler’s Loop. It was a great 3.5 mile loop with excellent views over Horsethief Canyon and the Colorado River. Here’s a few pictures from along the way….

We were originally planning on heading to Arches National Park today so we could hike to Delicate Arch. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us, so we ended up staying home. After having some breakfast, Amanda remembered that it was the first Sunday of the month, and that the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens offers free admission today. It was a great opportunity to play with my new lens. Here’s some of the photos I took on our trip there.
