Christmas in Arches 2022

Moab Winter Weekend | Moab Area Rock Art XXXIV
Saturday & Sunday, December 24-25, 2022

Christmas is here once again, which means that it was time for Diane and I to continue our annual tradition of spending Christmas Day in Arches National Park. This would be my fifteenth year visiting Arches around the yuletide holiday and Diane has been joining me for the past nine of those years on Christmas Day. Since Christmas fell on a Sunday this year, Diane and I headed down to Moab on Saturday morning and we did a little exploring around the area before spending the night in town. Then we got up early on Sunday morning and drove to the Devils Garden Trailhead so we could hike out to Landscape Arch at sunrise before we spent the rest of the day in other parts of the park.

Veteran’s Day on Copper Ridge

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

This Veteran’s Day I wanted to check out the Copper Ridge trail. I have been on bits and pieces of this trail before, but have never done the whole thing in one shot before. I made my way to Moab and topped off my tank before heading north out of town and turning onto the old highway just opposite of the Gemini Bridges Road. I followed the old highway for about a mile and a half before turning left at the start of the Copper Ridge trail. The trail follows along part of the Bar M Loop at this point.

NAXJA’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

NAXJA’s Fall Fling 2003
Friday – Sunday, October 3-12, 2003

A few months back I made the decision to drive out to Moab, Utah for a week to attend NAXJA’s 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Jeep Cherokee. I have seen many photos of the trails and beautiful scenery and just knew I needed to experience it for myself. I ended up leaving home on Friday night at around 6:00pm so that I could meet up with my friend in Rochelle, Illinois at about 7:00pm. Once we met up we continued driving west until we got near Des Moines, Iowa where we stopped to get some sleep at a rest area.
