Although I was going to be attending a concert later in the evening with Diane, I still headed out to Moab early in the morning today so I could spend a couple of hours visiting a few scattered rock art sites in the area with a friend. Here are some photos of the rock art sites that we saw this morning.
Morning light on the Moab Rim
Here are a couple photos of a high and interesting petroglyph panel that we scrambled up to.
Check out the long legs on this figure!
We spotted our first claret cups of the season today, so I had to get a photo.
A faint Barrier Canyon Style panel up on a ledge.
It’s too bad that these pictographs were very faded, because it looks like the figure on the right would have been a nice Barrier Canyon Style anthropomorph.

The Bow Hunter
Fin Petroglyphs
Little red pictographs.
Here’s a closer took at the tiny red anthropomorph.
Faded pictographs found on the ceiling of an alcove that contains a nice dripping spring.
Holding Hands Panel
I really liked this petroglyph of a sheep.
Love the claret cups. Some of the petroglifs are fabulous. Thanks.
What are your thoughts about the pictograph that looks like a sailboat? I’ve been to this one a few times and wonder – is it a boat or something else? Is it modern or ancient? The other pictographs and petroglyphs in the same area seem ancient.
