Today Amanda and I decided to go on a short hike through Echo Canyon located in the Colorado National Monument. It’s a short hike that is pretty easy most of the way, with some great views.

After replacing my radiator, it was time to test and make sure it was cooling OK. What better place to head than Bangs Canyon for a quick shakedown run. So far, the radiator seems to be working great and I haven’t been able to find any leaks.

Amanda and I spent part of our day today taking the tour of the Colorado National Monument. Even thought it was pretty windy and there were a lot of rain clouds overhead, we had a great time. We certainly didn’t see everything, but since it’s practically in our backyard, I’m sure we will be spending more time exploring the Monument in the future.

After a few days up in Grand Junction, I was headed back down to Silverton for the dinner and raffle the Colorado Chapter of NAXJA was putting on for ColoradoFest. Before I left the area, I had a few places I wanted to explore on my way south. I started off by heading to the Colorado National Monument.

Most of my day on Wednesday was spent at the UFWDA Annual Convention. However when we finished for the day, the only thing on my mind was heading out and exploring the area just outside of town. Right near the hotel that the convention was held at is an OHV area at the base of the Book Cliffs called The Grand Junction Desert. I started out by following 27.25 Road north. Eventually the pavement turned to gravel and then to a bumpier trail.
