After reaching Leadville via Hagerman Pass, there was still some daylight yet, and I felt like making the trek over Mosquito Pass….so we headed east on 7th St. and made our way towards the 13,185 foot pass.

On Saturday morning Amanda and I headed down to Silverton. After setting up camp we made our way down the road that leads from Silverton to Animas Forks that we have traveled many times before. In the past we have explored a bunch of the side trails off of this road (Cunningham Gulch, Eureka Gulch, Picayune Gulch & Placer Gulch), however there were a few that either I have not checked out before, or that were blocked by snow when I attempted them. Our goal for this day was to check out the rest of those trails.

Last Wednesday was Amanda’s birthday, and for her birthday she wanted to go to Goblin Valley. She picked this weekend, so I planned a little trip around it. We left right after work on Friday and headed straight for Hanksville to setup camp. It was a very nice evening and we got a great night of sleep.

For the final weekend in April we decided to head back to Moab. We were originally planning on checking out the car show, but after encountering the crowd and traffic that was present in Moab, we got out of town and stayed away as best we could. Many people complain about the crowds during EJS, but let me tell you….it’s much worse during the car show. I will not be heading into Moab on the car show weekend again…

The original goal for this trip was to spend most of the weekend hiking to Anasazi ruins on Comb Ridge. However, after hiking a few miles we realized we were a little more out of shape than we had thought 
So we didn’t exactly spend the whole weekend hiking. Luckily we had the Jeep with us so we could still do some exploring.
