Into the Maze

The Maze and the Mesa | Day 0: Change of Plans?

As you might have seen in this post before I left on this trip, there was some real concern about the government shutting down and closing Canyonlands National Park. The night before I was set to leave, I stayed up to see what was going to happen in Washington. Luckily, at the last minute they figured out the budget and averted a shutdown. Of course, my time would have been better spent sleeping, but at least we did not have to make any last minute changes to our plans and we would still be able to explore The Maze District of Canyonlands for a few days.

Colorado River Gorge Petroglyphs & More…

Moab Area Rock Art I | Saturday, January 22, 2011

On Saturday, Amanda and I headed down to Moab to search out some new petroglyphs along the Colorado River, plus to revisit some that we’ve been to many times before. It always seems that no matter how many times I visit these areas, I always find something new. Here’s some photos of just some of the petroglyphs we found throughout the day.

November Ruins & Rock Art | Saturday

November Cedar Mesa & Comb Ridge Trip 2010
Friday & Saturday, November 19-20, 2010

This last weekend was our annual November trip to the Cedar Mesa / Comb Ridge area. We set out to check out some new ruins and rock art during the weekend and we were not disappointed. On Friday we both got out of work early and headed south to Blanding. On our way we made a quick stop at the Dewey petroglyph panel for a few quick photos before it got dark.
