Waterfalls & Rainbows Around Moab

Thursday, October 10, 2013

What a crazy day! The weather was all over the place which made for some great dynamic conditions- perfect for photography! My camera sure got a workout today. It started out by raining all night. My tent kept me dry and the rain actually stopped when my alarm went off so I could get up and photograph the sunrise. I hopped in my Jeep and drove up the Sand Flats Road to the Castle Valley Overlook but the sunrise never happened. It was just too cloudy and another storm rolled in while I was up there.

Laccolith Tour | La Sal Mountains

Saturday & Sunday, August 21-22, 2010

Since Amanda had to work this weekend and I didn’t want to travel too far from home, I headed out to explore the La Sal Mountains as part of my Laccolith Tour this year. I have been to the La Sals a number of times before, so I have driven most of the main trails, so my goal this trip was to explore some new ones. From my house I headed up Unaweep Canyon to Gateway and then took John Brown Canyon up into the foothills of the La Sals.

The Kokopelli Trail

Sunday & Monday, May 9-10, 2009

This past weekend I finally got around to completing a trail that has been on my to-do list for quite a while….The Kokopelli Trail. When people hear the name Kokopelli, they usually associate this trail with mountain biking. While it is indeed a popular mountain biking route, this trail follows old four-wheel drive roads for much of the way. There are only a few sections of singletrack that need to be bypassed.

Gateway to Moab

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Originally, I was supposed to go to Moab this weekend with Amanda for her birthday. Unfortunately, she ended up having to work today, so we are putting that trip off until next weekend. However, I still wanted to get out and do a little exploring today. Last year I went to Moab through Gateway, Colorado and thought it would be fun to do a little exploring in that area. Here’s a few pictures from the day.
