After taking some photos at Newspaper Rock, I headed over to explore Shay Canyon. This was my first visit to this canyon and I knew there should be many petroglyphs found here. I was not disappointed! I spent a while here hiking along the canyon wall searching for and photographing the many petroglyphs I found along the way.

Early Saturday morning I set off for the Indian Creek Canyon area to explore and search for some new rock art. My first stop of the day was at Newspaper Rock. I have stopped here many times in the past, however I wanted to practice with my new 100-400mm lens. I figured this would be a great spot to zoom in close and isolate some of the many small figures. Here’s a few photos I took.

On Sunday morning we slept in a little later than the previous day. The weather reports had indicated that there would be snow overnight so we were expecting to wake up and find the ground covered, but when I looked out the window there was none. Still, the weather wasn’t the greatest; it was windy and raining off and on. Despite the weather we loaded up the Jeep and headed towards Comb Ridge.

This weekend Amanda and I finished up our Laccolith Tour this year by heading up to the Abajo (Blue) Mountains. We started out by heading west out of Monticello to North Creek Pass.
