We’ve had a very cold start to the year so I’ve been staying close to home more than I usually do. Since that’s the case, I’ve been spending my free time trying to make some more unique images of locations I’ve photographed before, plus I’ve been trying to find some new locations around the Grand Valley. After a good night of sleep at Devil’s Kitchen we spent the rest of the day making our way over to Peekaboo for the night. Of course, we made some other stops along the way.

Bright and early Saturday morning I was up and headed to The Needles District of Canyonlands National Park to meet up with a few friends for the Memorial Day weekend. I made pretty good time and was soon on my way over Elephant Hill and at our campsite in Devil’s Kitchen. It took me just under four hours to reach the campsite from my house in Grand Junction. I quickly setup my tent and we were soon on our way to start hiking and exploring.

Today Amanda and I headed out to hike the popular Serpent’s Trail within the Colorado National Monument. The original vehicle entrance to the Monument, this route was once called the “Crookedest Road in the World” and is now on the National Register of Historic Structures.

Amanda and I spent the day yesterday with my sister and her husband. We started out in the morning hiking at the Colorado National monument and then we took a drive over the Grand Mesa. It rained a lot during the day, but luckily it seemed that every time we were out side hiking or doing something else, we got lucky and the rain was stopped. I didn’t end up taking many photos, but here’s a few that I did take…
