IntrepidXpedition 2007 | Day 12

Before I could drive anywhere today I needed to replace the water pump on my Jeep for the second time on this trip. It took a few hours in the morning, so I got a later start than normal.
When I finally did get going I made my way over to Spring Canyon which heads down to the Green River.
Starting down the shelf road at the top of Spring Canyon.
In the shade under a large overhang on my way into Spring Canyon.
Scenery along the way.
Down in the bottom of Spring Canyon.
When I made it to the canyon floor, I started following the road along the Green River towards Hey Joe Canyon a little way.
It’s just a little overgrown down here along the river.
I sure could use some limb risers for this overgrown tamarisk…
Following the road next to the Green River.
After heading back out I went to check out the Dellenbaugh Tunnel. I did make it to the end of the trail but I was unable to locate the tunnel. I guess I will have to try and find it another time.
Stopped under Tombstone Rock.
Near the end of the Dellenbaugh Tunnel trail.
On my way back from the tunnel I managed to run into another little problem. I was driving a little too fast when I hit a small rocky wash just a little too hard…
I bent the wheel pretty good.
It was not a lot of fun having to change the tire in the middle of the desert with no shade.
I did manage to pound out the dent and fill the tire with air, but it went on the back of my Jeep as my new spare tire.
After that little setback I found my way over to Rainbow Terrace, also known as the Rainbow Rocks trail. This trail brings you up and close to the Rainbow Rocks butte.
I was originally planning on taking the Crystal Geyser trail to Green River, but because of my delays and fuel level I decided to head out on the Ruby Ranch Road and then took I-70 to Green River.
The drive on the Ruby Ranch Road looked a lot like this much of the way.
I made it to Green River in time to grab some dinner and get some rest after my long day.
