Winter in Arches

Saturday, December 27, 2008

On Saturday, Amanda and I spent our day doing some easy hikes in Arches National Park. While I have been there a number of times before, there are a few famous sights that I have never made it to before. Mostly because there are too many people at those areas during the spring and fall. During the winter, there are a lot less people in the park, so it is a perfect time to check out some of the more popular sights 🙂

We started out the day by hiking through Devils Garden and making our way to Landscape Arch.

After spending a bit of time taking photos here, we then headed back and checked out Tunnel Arch.

Before making it back to the Jeep, we also checked out Pine Tree Arch

Our next stop was the Windows section of the park. Along the way, we got sidetracked by Skyline Arch and Sand Dune Arch.

We eventually did make it to the Windows section of the park and took the short hike.

I also couldn’t leave this section of Arches without seeing the famous Double Arch!

I can’t help but stop and take a picture of Balance Rock every time I drive by it.

On our way out of the park for the day, I had to stop at the La Sal Mountain Overlook, which is one of my favorites in the park.

Overall, it was a great day at Arches, even if it was a little cold 🙂
