It was a great start to a day. The wind had finally died down overnight and I woke up to a great sunrise over Lake Powell from Alstrom Point. Since it was my mom’s birthday and I had full signal up there, I gave her a call to wish her a happy birthday. I took some photos before packing up the Jeep and heading back to Big Water from some more gas.

It seems that both Jan and I are early risers when we are out exploring, so we got our camp packed up and finished the drive up into Silver Basin on Saturday morning.

The original goal for this trip was to spend most of the weekend hiking to Anasazi ruins on Comb Ridge. However, after hiking a few miles we realized we were a little more out of shape than we had thought 
So we didn’t exactly spend the whole weekend hiking. Luckily we had the Jeep with us so we could still do some exploring.

After a good nights sleep it was time to get out and do some more exploring around Moab. My first destination was to head up to Hurrah Pass.

The following morning I started out with a quick drive on US 50 from Monarch, CO to reach the start of Old Monarch Pass. My final destination at the end of the day will be Silverton, CO and I will be getting there by barely touching any paved roads all day.
