Redstone Coke Ovens

At one time there were over two-hundred of these coke ovens in Redstone, Colorado which were built in the late 1800’s to refine coal into coke. At their peak, they produced almost 6 million tons a year. Within ten years of their construction the ovens fell into disuse when the surrounding coal mines were closed. Currently there are about 90 remaining ovens left.
