Illinois Storm

Here’s a little something different from my usual adventures in Colorado and Utah. We spent last week visiting Diane’s family in Milwaukee and my family in Illinois and did a lot of interstate driving, so we weren’t able to get out hiking at all. I almost didn’t even bother to bring my camera with me on this trip, but I’m glad I did when a thunderstorm moved through the area near my sister’s house near Sandwich, Illinois shortly before sunset. Here are a few of the photos I took.

Exploring Shawnee National Forest

I’ve wanted to get down to Shawnee National Forest for a while to check out some of the trails that are located there. A lot of four-wheelers claim that there are no public lands in Illinois to go wheeling on, but they would be wrong. They just need to get down to Shawnee National Forest and explore some of the forest roads located there sometime.

The Cliffs

I met up with fatwreck and VTJeepCJ84 today at The Cliffs and rode along with fatwreck for the day. Lucky for us it rained all night, so most of the time we were at the park it was really slick and muddy! Brian had to cut his day a little short when he broke something in his front axle, but he never pulled the cover so I’m still waiting to find out what broke…
