I had it all this last weekend…sun, dust, rain, snow, sleet and hail. The weekend started out on Friday morning for me with a quick trip to the vendor show at the Old Spanish Trail Arena. From there I gassed up and headed south of Moab, away from the EJS crowds. My destination on this dry and sunny day was to explore some of the trails in the Cameo Cliffs North area.

On Tuesday morning I went on the official NAXJA trail group on Strike Ravine which was lead by Alex. The group consisted of 20 XJ’s, and even though it was a larger group, we managed to make good time on the trail. This was my first time on Strike Ravine, and I’m glad I went with the group, because it would be a difficult trail to follow on my own. There are a number of roads and trails that intersect in this area, so I might need to head back another time and do some more exploring. I volunteered to tailgun this trail for Alex, so most of my pictures are from the back of the group.

On Wednesday we were originally supposed to run the Golden Spike trail, but since the trail leader’s wife hit a deer on the way down to Moab the night before we got a much later start to the day. Instead, we went and played around in Area BFE for a while. Our original goal was to run Green Day, but since none of us had really been there before we had a hard time finding it. We ended up running some of Green Day and then I played around on the entrance to Upper Helldorado for a little bit.
