Going Mirrorless: Canon EOS RP

Canon EOS RP Front

Well, I recently decided that it was finally time to give a mirrorless camera a try after over 12 years of shooting with a DSLR. I’ve been wanting to move to a full-frame mirrorless camera for a while, but I wasn’t interested in switching over to Sony like so many others have done. I had the patience to wait for Canon to come out with a mirrorless camera I liked and that camera is the EOS RP. It’s very similar to my current Canon 6D mkII, except that it’s smaller, weighs about a full pound less (which will be nice for carrying on long hikes), and it’s also cheaper than buying a new replacement 6D mkII.

I made sure to get the kit that comes with the new Canon RF 24-105mm L since that lens is also smaller, lighter and supposed to be slightly sharper. Plus, I can still use all my EF lenses with a little adapter.

I’m looking forward to trying out this new camera on the many trips I already have planned this spring and hope it works out well! I sure won’t mind the lighter weight and smaller package.
